The AIM Portal will send Faculty Notification Letter (Accommodation Letter) emails to instructors directly from the AIM system. Students should not need to send accommodation letters by PDF. However a PDF version of the Faculty Notification Letter will be available in the AIM Student Portal once letters have been processed.
Please remember that once Faculty Notification Letters (Accommodation Letters) have been sent to instructors students should set-up a time to meet with their instructors (and/or other key staff members) so they can discuss how the accommodations will be implemented in that specific course/program and to talk through any specific questions or arrangements. Disability Resources recommends setting up an appointment if the student is not able to attend posted office hours.
Sample E-mail Template (for students with exam accommodation needs)
E-mail Subject: Follow-up on Disability Accommodation needs for [Student name] in [Course Name/Number]
You should have recently received an email from my Access Coordinator in Disability Resources that outlines my approved accommodations. I would like to set-up a time to review this information with you to determine how we will implement these accommodations and to answer any questions you may have about my accommodation needs.
[Then let the instructor know when you plan to attend office hours]I plan to attend your office hours on <Date/Time>.
[Or propose potential times you would be available to meet in the next week or so]Over the next 2 weeks I am available to meet <list of dates and time blocks>.
If we decide to schedule exams with the Disability Resources Testing Center, you may want to review the following resources provided by Disability Resources:
