Testing Center Instructor Guide
Testing Center Overview
The Testing Center supports instructors by providing approved testing accommodations for students in their courses.
Instructor Proctored Exams
Whenever possible, instructors may provide testing accommodations directly to students in their courses.
Instructors can indicate in the AIM instructor portal if they will proctor their own exams or if no proctor is needed, which prevents students from booking with the Testing Center.
Using the Testing Center
- To allow students to use the Testing Center, please complete a Testing Agreement in AIM.
- In the Testing Agreement, instructors share information about the course, exam instructions (including delivery and return), and permitted materials.
- One Testing Agreement is needed per course/section. Agreements can be copied to other courses.
- Testing Center staff reference the Testing Agreement when students request changes to their exam schedule.
- Students are responsible for scheduling exams in advance.
- Please provide exams and passwords at least 3 business days before the scheduled exam.
- Exams may be uploaded to AIM or dropped off at a Testing Center location.
- Make-up exams may be scheduled on Mondays or Fridays. Make-ups are not available during finals. Students obtain approval from instructors before scheduling a make-up exam.
- Final exams are administered in predetermined blocks (8 AM, 11 AM, 2 PM, and 5 PM) due to space constraints.
. Test Security and Academic Integrity
- The Testing Center uses live camera feeds to proctor test-takers.
- In overflow testing spaces (e.g., conference rooms), proctors are in the room with students.
- Exam security is managed by limiting access to full-time staff and graduate student employees.
- AIM encrypts uploaded exams and tracks seating & allotted time.
- Staff verify accommodations and allowed materials listed in the Testing Agreement.
- Items not allowed in the testing rooms include phones, electronic devices, and backpacks. Exceptions are made for accommodations (e.g., medical device)
- Students may not keep any exam materials.
