Instructors have the option to proctor their own exams with accommodations without the assistance of the Disability Resources Testing Center as long as the instructor has the ability to meet the accommodation needs.
When an instructor plans to proctor their own exams (or do not require exam proctoring) it is helpful if they can indicate this in the AIM system so that students do not try to schedule to take their exams with Disability Resources in the AIM Student Portal.
Option 1: Use Testing Agreement link in Accommodation Letter email
- In the emailed Faculty Notification Letter (accommodation letter), click on the Testing Agreement Link. This will take you directly to the detailed Testing Agreement form in the AIM Instructor Portal.
- At the top of the Testing Agreement form is a yellow box where you can indicate that you plan to proctor your own exams.
- Select “I will proctor my own exams” and then click Confirm.
- NOTE: If you have more than one section of the class, be sure to do this for all sections (please review the AIM Instructor Portal to make sure all sections have been marked. Detailed instructions below.).
- NOTE: If you have more than one section of the class, be sure to do this for all sections (please review the AIM Instructor Portal to make sure all sections have been marked. Detailed instructions below.).
- Once confirmed, the Testing Agreement will close, since you do not need to provide Disability Resources any additional information.
- Didn’t mean to click this option? Instructors can clear this and reopen the Testing Agreement in the AIM Instructor Portal (see below).
- Once an instructor completes this form students will no longer be able to try to schedule any exams with the Disability Resources Testing Center for that course/section for the current semester.
Option 2: In AIM Instructor Portal
- Log into the AIM Instructor Portal and review the “Accessible Testing” page.
- In the middle of the page is a section titled” Proctoring Your Own Exam”
- Choose specific class/section, set type to “I will Proctor my Own Exams”, then click confirm.
- If you have more than one section of the class, be sure to do this for all sections.
- Once submitted you will see that class is displayed under the “Exams Proctored by Instructor or Class without Exams” list on top right of the Accessible Testing summary page
Made an Error?
If an instructor accidentally indicates they planned to proctor their own exams (or that the class has no exams), they can clear (cancel) that entry and start over.
- Log into the AIM Instructor Portal and review the “Accessible Testing” page.
- At the top right of the page is a box titled “Exams Proctored by Instructor or Class with out Exams”.
- Click “Cancel” and the Testing Agreement will reopen for that course/section.
