Using Accessibility Checkers and Canvas to Create Accessible Content (February 2025)

Ensuring digital accessibility is an essential practice when creating content for all learning environments. This session explores how to use accessibility checkers in Word and PowerPoint to identify and resolve common accessibility issues. Participants will also learn how to use Canvas’s built-in accessibility checker and the Ally report to identify and address accessibility issues within a course. The session will cover how accessible content integrates with assistive technologies, such as screen readers and voice-to-text applications. Supporting Neurodivergent Students (September 2023)

Campuses across the country (including Texas A&M) are seeing an increase in students with autism. Autistic students come to campus academically prepared but are sometimes challenged by the lack of structure, large campus size, and ambiguity of social cues in our environment. John will provide insights on how to best support autistic students in the classroom and campus from his experience as both an autistic adult and a disability resource professional.
