The Disability Services Testing Administration Center works to ensure
that appropriate testing accommodations are provided for students who
are eligible for services. In order to maintain the integrity of the
Testing Administration Center (TAC) and the exams being administered,
the following rules apply to all users of the TAC.
I. Scheduling Exams
- Students are required to provide written schedules of their exams to
the Testing Coordinator. This includes completing the green exam
schedule form in its entirety, having the exam schedule form signed by
the instructor of the course, and submitting the form in a timely manner
(see below). Students, not instructors, are responsible for turning their exam schedule to the TAC.
- All exams will be administered at the regularly scheduled date/time
of the class, unless the TAC receives approval from the
instructor to take the exam at an alternate date/time. The alternate
date/time must be given to the Testing Coordinator in advance and in
writing.
- The Testing Administration Center (TAC) closes at 6:00pm (7:30pm
during final exams). All exams
must be scheduled such that they are completed, with extended time, by
the time the TAC closes. It is the student's responsibility to make sure the schedule exams do not conflict with classes and other exams.
- Students are required to give Disability Services 3 working
days advance written notice during the Fall and Spring terms (2 working days for
Summer terms) . For example, a green exam schedule form received on Thursday
allows for the student to take an exam in Disability Services on
Tuesday.
- For scheduling purposes, Disability Services requires extended
notice (approximately 2 week) for final exams. Refer to the Disability Services
calendar each semester for the deadline for scheduling final exams.
- No regular course exams will be administered during prep days or reading days (as designated by the Academic Calendar).
II. Changing Exam Dates/Times
If an exam schedule changes for any reason, it is the student's responsibility to notify the TAC of those changes in writing at least three days in advance of the
exam.
- If the date or time of a scheduled exam changes, the student must
e-mail the TAC (testadmin@tamu.edu) of the time/date change and copy the message to
the instructor. The Testing Coordinator will confirm this request with
the instructor prior to the request being approved.
III. Checking Exam Schedules
Students are responsible for checking the dates and times of their
exams on a regular basis. This can be access online at http://disability.tamu.edu.
- If a student has not checked the website and the exam is scheduled
incorrectly, Disability Services does not guarantee administration of that particular exam.
- The TAC should be contacted if there are any errors in the schedule.
IV. Taking Exams in the TAC
- The student is expected to take all exams at the scheduled times. If the student is more than 15 minutes late for an exam (according to TAC time), the exam will be returned to the instructor. If the student is less than 15 minutes late, the student may take the exam but the exam time will begin when the exam was scheduled.
- Students are required to present a picture ID prior to being issued
their exam.
- Students must supply necessary exam materials, just as they would be
expected to do in class. This includes: blue books, calculators,
pencils, scantrons, etc.
- The student is allowed to use only the amount of time allotted under the agreement made with the Accommodations Counselor. The student must complete their scantrons or other answer sheets within the allotted time.
- The TAC staff will monitor breaks and
trips to the restroom.
- The student is responsible for following all instructions on the exam and will assume any penalties that may result from misunderstandings and misinterpretations
- Cell phones are not allowed in the Testing room They will be
collected by DS staff and returned upon completion of
exam.
- Electronic devices (e.g. MP3 Players, etc.) are not allowed in
the testing room.
- No food or drinks are allowed in the testing room, with the
exception of water in clear bottles
- Anyone found cheating will be required to surrender his/her exam and
the instructor will be notified. The testing room is monitored on a
regular basis.
