The Disability Services Testing Administration Center works to ensure
that appropriate testing accommodations are provided for students who
are eligible for services. In order to maintain the integrity of the
Testing Administration Center (TAC) and the exams being administered,
the following rules apply to all users of the TAC.
I. Scheduling Exams
- Students are required to provide a WRITTEN schedule of their exams to
the Testing Coordinator. This includes completing the green exam
schedule form in its entirety, having the exam schedule form signed by
the instructor of the course, and submitting the form in a timely manner
(see below). Please do not rely on the instructor to turn in the exam
schedule form for the student!
- All exams will be administered at the regularly scheduled date/time
of the class, unless Disability Services receives approval from the
instructor to take the exam at an alternate date/time. The alternate
date/time must be given to the Testing Coordinator in advance and in
writing.
- The Testing Administration Center (TAC) closes at 6:00pm (7:00pm
during final exams). All exams
must be scheduled such that they are completed, with extended time, by
the time the TAC closes.
- Students are required to give Disability Services 3 working
days ADVANCE written notice during the Fall and Spring terms (2 working days for
Summer terms) of all exams, including
changes. For example, a green exam schedule form received on Thursday
allows for the student to take an exam in Disability Services on
Tuesday.
- For scheduling purposes, Disability Services requires extended
notice for final exams. Refer to the Disability Services
calendar each semester for the deadline for scheduling final exams.
II. Changing Exam Dates/Times
- If an exam schedule changes for any reason, it is THE
STUDENT'S RESPONSIBILITY to notify Disability Services of those
changes in WRITING at least three days in advance of the
exam. If the date or time of a scheduled exam changes, the student must
comply with one of the following procedures:
- Submit a completed exam/change form
that details the time/date change signed by the student and the respective
instructor.
- E-mail the Testing Coordinator
(testadmin@tamu.edu) of the time/date change and copy the message to
the instructor. The Testing Coordinator will confirm this request with
the instructor prior to the request being approved.
III. Taking Your Exams
- Students are expected to take their exam at the scheduled time. If a student is more than 15 minutes late for their exam (according
to Disability Services time), the exam will be returned to the
instructor. If the student is less than 15 minutes late, the student may
take their exam but the exam timing will begin when the exam was originally
scheduled.
- Students are required to present a picture ID prior to being issued
their exam.
- Students are allowed to use only those items their instructor has
approved for use on the exam.
- Students must supply necessary exam materials, just as they would be
expected to do in class. This includes: blue books, calculators,
pencils, scantrons, etc.
- The Disability Services staff will monitor breaks and
trips to the restroom.
- Students are responsible for following instructions on the exam and
will assume any penalties that may result from misunderstandings and
misinterpretations.
- Cell phones are not allowed in the Testing room They will be
collected by Disability Services staff and returned upon completion of
exam.
- No food or drinks are allowed in the testing room, with the
exception of water in clear bottles
- Electronic devices (i.e. CD Players, MP3 Players, etc.) and personal
items are not allowed in
the testing room.
- Students are allowed to use only the amount of time allotted under
agreement made with their Accommodations Counselor.
- Anyone found cheating will be required to surrender his/her exam and
the instructor will be notified. The testing room is monitored on a
regular basis.
IV. Checking Your Exam Schedule
- Students are responsible for checking the dates and times of their
exams on a regular basis
on our website.
- If a student has not checked the website and the exam is scheduled
incorrectly, Disability Services does not guarantee that we will be able
to administer the exam.
- If students find errors in their exam schedule,
contact the Testing Administration Center
immediately.
